About this guide
Muslim Husband maps the qualities of a good husband to both modern relationship guidance and the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
We distilled a set of 19 ideal behaviours of a husband from contemporary relationship coaching, then searched the major hadith collections for moments where the Prophet ﷺ personally demonstrated each one with his wives, or guided men about it. Each behaviour page shows the modern guidance alongside its Prophetic example.
Currently 169 hadith are linked. The library grows as the work continues.
Hadith are drawn from the six major collections (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan an-Nasa'i, Sunan Ibn Majah) and link to sunnah.com for the full record and chain. Modern guidance is distilled and presented without endorsing any particular source.
This guide is part of a small family of Islamic relationship-guidance sites:
- Muslim Wife - the same approach written for wives.
- 11 Wives - a deep dive into the Hadith of Umm Zar' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5189), where eleven women describe their husbands in some of the most poetic Arabic ever recorded.
